"My love of gardening came from my love of being outdoors. Every Sunday when I was a little girl in the early 1900s, my father took me out driving and introduced me to flowers."

Eleanor's Garden Tips

1. Invite people into your garden. It's a great way to share your joy and make new friends.

2. If you put a fence around your garden, leave an inch or two between the boards so that when it gets hot, the garden will have some ventilation.

3. Don't take too much advice from others about your garden. Experiment, have fun, and see what you can discover on your own.

4. Keep a garden journal. Then when you're in your 80s, you can read it and enjoy your garden all over again.
